TBE Meningococcal Disease Influenza Smallpox

  Influenza

Influenza, first described by Hippocrates in 412 BC, is one of the oldest and most common diseases known to man. It is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide and affects large sections of the population each year. This results in hundreds of thousands of excess hospitalizations, tens of thousands of excess deaths and billions of dollars in healthcare costs each year. In addition, millions of people are absent from work and school and cannot be part of daily social life.
